WESTGATE ROOKIE OF THE YEAR

Congratulations to Z.Y. Official, Brandon Westgate for taking home the ROOKIE OF THE YEAR AWARD on Tuesday night at the 12th Annual Transworld Skateboarding Awards!

Salbaland mission 95 degrees, hot as F#%K!!!

We took out it out to Salbaland for mid afternoon skate session. Not sure who’s idea it was but some people had to get back to LA for the TWS awards. Grant Taylor came up on two of them that evening, congrats! Skated the pool for awhile, drank some beer then Salba took us to a cool watering hole up past Mt Baldy pipe and tried to kill us. We all made it out alive.

ZOO AT CHICAGO FREE FLOW TOUR

If you're in the Chicago area this weekend, make sure you're at Warp Skateboard Park for the Gatorade Free Flow tour. Z.Y. Official, Chaz Ortiz and Z.Y. Master, Rodney Torres will be guest judges and providing prizes for the top 3 skaters.

Afterwards, the ZOO crew will be hosting a BBQ for all in attendance! See you there!

THE BEST LAID PLANS OF MICE AND MEN OFTEN GO AWRY

This was supposed to be an edit about how Tony's favorite trick is the bs tailslide. We were gonna film different variations and doubles lines... I was also going to ask him why this trick is so special to him. Who does them the best? Everything was planned out. Then this happened. I don't know what's worse, taking your worst slam in decades or almost having some dude try to snag your broken camera while you're still trying to catch your breath.

MALOOF MONEY CUP - INDY TEAM

A hot and humid weekend in NYC at the Maloof Cup. $100,000 first place? The Maloof Brother's are rich bitch! Vans, Volcom and Skullcandy kicked down also. The skate park is a permanent fixture in Flushing, free for everyone and no fences. The fresh concrete will soon be graffiti artist's canvas in no time. If you are in New York City go skate the park. X-GAMES REAL STREET CONTEST - ZERED

A new medal event for X Games 16, Real Street is the first contest of its kind. Twelve of the top individual pros including Z.Y. Official Zered Bassett in street skating have filmed 60-second video parts on street terrain for X Games. Two parts a week will drop on xgames.com/realstreet for the six weeks leading up to the X Games, beginning June 21. When the final two parts drop July 25, you'll have one week to vote for the fan favorite (the winner gets $2,500). Then, on Aug. 1, all 12 video parts will air on the final day of the X Games 16 telecast, and a panel of pros - Pat Duffy, Ed Templeton, Jamie Thomas and Geoff Rowley - will choose the winning part and award the skater $50,000 and an X Games gold medal.
